Self Awareness as a Component of Emotional Intelligence

I came to comprehend mindfulness as acknowledgment of our character, our qualities and shortcomings, our preferences. Our capacity to know ourselves back to front gives us media to be proactive, we know our shortcomings which normally make us receptive yet by having the option to distinguish them, we can take a shot at them and join proactiveness in our dealings. Mindfulness which is an individual ability is unique in relation to the next of its sort called â€Å"self regulation† on the grounds that the last has to do to occupy self time control, reliability, scruples, versatility and innovativeness. Also it contrasts from the social capabilities which incorporate sympathy and social expertise, while compassion is tied in with creating others, being administration orientated and culturally diverse affectability. Social aptitude slices over the capacity to make impact, peace making, participation and collaboration. In many cases our mindfulness can be a pre-essential for success ful correspondence, building connections just as creating sympathy for other people, hence making â€Å"self awareness† the fundamental column among the segments of passionate intelligence.A individual with astounding mindfulness can find that his capacity to relate and impart in the best possible manner with individuals in the first part of the day is never the best; this is on the grounds that he offers discourteous and injurious expressions without really gauging it appropriately in his brain. Completely recognizing this, he will be proactive by looking for arrangements. The arrangement can either be planning the time he truly meet individuals to be at a time he is completely cognizant with his mind working effectively. He can likewise manage the underlying driver of why he annoys individuals in the morning. In improving your mindfulness, it is critical to take note of the accompanying, albeit mindfulness can be in-conceived, it could likewise be scholarly, the way toward l earning requires time, inspiration to change, constant practice and input. This is on the grounds that no achievement can be accomplished in existence without want and exertion. The primary aptitude to learn in creating mindfulness is to â€Å"recognize and deal with your emotion† it is essential to know about your feelings and how they impact your musings and actions. This is on the grounds that regardless of whether we deny them, we can’t kill them, they are still there whether we know about them or not. Lamentably without mindfulness we can't completely comprehend our own inspirations and needs or to discuss successfully with others. The subsequent expertise to learn is â€Å"rapidly lessening stress†. When we’re under significant levels of pressure, sane reasoning and dynamic leave the window. Having the option to oversee worry at the time is the way to flexibility. Mindfulness causes us remain centered and in control-regardless of what challenges you face. The third expertise to learn is the manner by which to utilize funniness to manage difficulties and clashes, a decent comical inclination is an antitoxin to troubles. They help our weight and assist us with keeping things in context. The conviction that learning passionate insight was found out in bunch is bogus, rather an individual methodology with the assistance of a mentor ought to be utilized. Likewise the neuro-transmitters of the limbic framework and not the neocortex ought to be focused on when learning, at last it ought to be realized that mindfulness can not be scholarly by unimportant finding out about it without committed down to earth endeavors.

Affordable Care Act and Universal Healthcare in Sweden - Free Essay Example

Health care is one of the most controversial topics in American society, today. Countries have opted to form their own health care from being single-payer, two tiered or insurance mandated. Who can say which one is better than the other? In this research paper, I will be doing an in-depth comparison between Swedens single payer health care plan and the United States individual mandated plan through the Affordable Care Act. Specifically, this paper will discuss the differences between Sweden and Americas health care system, statistics, quality of the care given, and their policies and procedures when it comes to their health care. Why does the United States not have universal health care? How does Sweden perform with their current health care plan? Is Sweden healthier than the United States? How do the two countries differ in policy? What does the taxation look like for residents in Sweden versus residents in America? What is the overall cost of operation for each system? Which system offers the most coverage to patients? These are just a few of the topics that are needed to fully discuss the differences between these two health care systems. Sweden has had single-payer, universal health care for sixty-three years, since 1955 (Kanopiadmin, 2013). Meaning that for sixty-three years Sweden has found a way to pay for its nations health care through residents taxes and ensure access to quality health care to all who need it (Sampson, 2015). Their residents pay for their own health care and assist those who may not be able to afford health care of their own (Sampson, 2015). Sweden provides health care for a wide range of needs including but not limited to maternal care for expecting mothers, midwives, mental health care, and specific medical specialists (Sampson, 2015). The nation divides the weight of responsibility over three regions of their combined municipalities (Kanopiadmin, 2013). They have a system that seems like it works well but does it really? What do residents think of it? Swedish Healthcare- Facts Healthcare in Sweden is idolized by many American people who claim that it is the best system in the world, but is it really? Sweden is a country that is built upon capitalism, much like the United States, but is influenced greatly by socialistic welfare, the idea that the community has a whole should be responsible for itself and others financially (Sampson, 2015). In 2018, Swedish taxpayers paid an average of 61.85% of their personal income to their collecting municipality while the United States only paid 37% of their personal income (Sweden Personal Income Tax Rate, 2018). This means that due to their high taxation, Swedens people are paying over half of their income to cover taxes while the United States is only paying 1/3rd of their income. Is this the price for universal healthcare coverage? While Sweden is recognized as having one of the best healthcare systems in the world, it does have a few flaws regardless of cost. While Swedes can afford their healthcare, politicians have yet to figure out how to help residents gain access to healthcare facilities. With a population over 9.07 million, Sweden has a high demand for healthcare but their hospitals have actually reduced the number of beds in their facilities (Sklà ©n, Nordgren, Annerb? ¤ck, 2016). Not only are Swedes now facing the second highest income tax but they are now facing the troubles that come with not having enough room for patients who need to be hospitalized meaning longer waiting lines. How does this compare to the problems America is facing with the Affordable Care Act? The Affordable Care Act America- Facts Healthcare in America is, in my opinion a controversial topic. Everyone has their own opinion of the Affordable Care Act in the American health care system. It is clear that our statistics necessitated a change but has the ACA actually affected our statistics? As with every new concept or idea implemented within the United States government, the Affordable Care Act presented a few mechanical, economic, and social issues (ACA Overview, 2017). The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was implemented by President Barack Obama in 2010 (ACA Overview, 2017). According to the ACA Health Care website, the Affordable Care Act provides more affordable healthcare to more Americans. The Affordable Care Act brought more focus to the Iron Triangle of healthcare which consists of cost, quality and access (ACA Overview, 2017). The ACA also brought more awareness to the problems of the current healthcare system. Yet, America still has fewer physicians per person than in most other OECD countries and a lower ave rage of hospital beds per population than almost thirty other countries. In January of 2017 VOX reported that 17 states opted out of expanding their Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act. When the act was first written, it was required that all states must enact the Affordable Care Act, but that was quickly changed due to Medicaid being managed differently in each state (Staff, 2017). Each state has made the decision to enact or refuse ACA for various reasons (Garfield, R., Damico, A., Orgera, K., 2018) . The ACA has certain provisions that make it required for certain individuals and employers. If those who are required to have coverage under the ACA opt to not file for coverage, they may face certain tax penalties (Garfield, R., Damico, A., Orgera, K., 2018). A big concern that remained hovering over the ACA change was the national spending and its effect on future spending. It was projected that healthcare spending would reduce but at a slow rate. Millions of Americans remain uninsured today despite the insurance provided by the Affordable Care Act. Three years after fully implementing ACA, in 2016 it was reported that 27.6 million nonelderly Americans remained uninsured (Kaiser). The ACA has reduced the number of noninsured Americans but it has not eliminated the group in its entirety. According to the CDC, the uninsured rate has fallen below 10 percent. According to the US Census Bureau, the number of Americans with health insurance was up further to 91.2%. Some Americans feel that ACA insurance is too expensive so they would rather go uninsured and pay out of pocket. Family Affordable Care Plans vary in pricing depending on many factors. Family size, age of members, location, and income are all factors in the pricing and allocation of ACA. In my opinion, pricing for affordable care is very difficult to understand. One source reports, that the average individual premium is $393 for an individual not receiving subsidies (government funds). The average family premium is $1,021 for a family not receiving subsidies. It is difficult to understand how much of a tax penalty will be given to those who opt out of affordable care. Certain procedures cost more in the United States than any other country, including Sweden (SWE) (Kane, 2012). In my opinion, these numbers strongly reinforce Americas need for better healthcare coverage for all people. To detail the exact coverage of ACA, the act had to undergo a few revisions and was divided into ten titles which draft out the laws of the act. The Affordable Care Act can be difficult to understand but how does the law compare and reflect upon Swedens universal healthcare system? Legislation for Swedens Healthcare and Affordable Care Act Both countries have heavy legislation concerning healthcare. Ranging from laws concerning pharmaceuticals and overall patient coverage. The major difference between the two countries is the division of coverage. America uses Affordable Care, Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance to insure the American people. Swedens legislation manly covers patient safety. According to Socialstyrelsen, a Swedish Healthcare Website, all healthcare providers are personally responsible and have legal responsibility for achieving compliance with patient safety regulations and for monitoring their own work between patients and hospitals (Healthcare complaints, n.d.). Socialstyrelsen also states that the Health and Social Care Inspectorate is the organization which monitors healthcare activities and professionals to ensure that they comply with applicable laws and regulations (Healthcare complaints, n.d.). The Health and Social Care Inspectorate is majorly responsible for health care, public health, so cial insurance and social issues (Healthcare complaints, n.d.). In 2011, Sweden introduced the Patient Safety Act (2010) which states that health care workers are personally responsible for their own actions (Hjortsberg Ghatnekar, 2017). For example, this act would help protect individuals who are harmed or made ill by work related situations which would then be reported to the proper government department which will then determine the course of action to resolve the situation to protect other employees (Hjortsberg Ghatnekar, 2017). Like America, Sweden has legislation that prohibits discrimination based on nationality Sweden also has an equal treatment law which states that all suppliers must have the same access to information (Hjortsberg Ghatnekar, 2017). Contrarily, Sweden has legislation which requires suppliers to have transparency when providing information, one that requires proportionality between the contacts and their stated requirements as a supplier (Hjortsberg Ghatnekar, 2017). America by comparison has been attempting to perfect healthcare for many years. Medicare and Medicaid are government funded programs which seek to provide health insurance to those who cannot afford it, Medicaid, and the elderly over 65 years of age, Medicare (Mazie, 2018). America has laws to protect workers, expecting mothers, veterans and health care professionals (Health Care Law, n.d). Both Sweden and America have legislation that reinforces patients safety and privacy through HIPAA (Woods, 2014). The Affordable Healt hcare Act of 2010 is a more recent development in America which seeks to provide insurance to all American citizens had to undergo a few revisions and had ten titles established which outlined the specific requirements for users and providers (ACA Overview, 2017). These ten titles address affordable health care for all Americans though affordable coverage, the roles of public programs which focused on expanding Medicaid and CHIP (Childern Health Insurance Program), improving the quality and efficiency of health care, preventing of chronic disease and improving public health, health care workforce, transparency and program integrity, improving access to innovative medical therapies, community living assistance services and supports, and finally revenue provisions strengthening quality, affordable care (ACA Overview, 2017) . In my opinion the affordable Care Act was written to cover a wide variety of Americans and it does a great job of ensuring that the needs of those Americans are m et by law. While Sweden does not have heavy legislation on healthcare like America, they are monitoring their health care professional through government agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and care (OECD, 2013. While legislation is important, how well have these laws affected how each country spends on health care and compare to each other with other costs? Sweden and Americas Spending As previously stated, America spends more on healthcare than any other country. The graph below illustrates the healthcare spending compared to forty-four other countries in 2016, six years after the Affordable Care Act was implemented. (Source: OECD Health spending Data) (Source: The U.S. Spends More Public Money On Healthcare Than Sweden Or Canada, 2017) America spends more than any other country for private healthcare but actually spends less than two other countries do on public healthcare. While America may be spending more than any other country privately, what are they paying for? America pays more per person for pharmaceuticals than any other country. America also pays its doctors, nurses and specialists more than any other country. The U.S. is also spending more on health care administration than any other country to plan, regulate and manage health systems. In my opinion, this spending gap is due to the high cost of healthcare services and medicine. It costs to have quality care. ( Source: Davis, K., Stremikis, K., Squires, D., Schoen, C., 2014) Here we see the countries ranked based on various health criteria. America ranks last overall when compared to Sweden who ranks third overall. The U.S only out-ranks Sweden in three categories, overall quality of care, effectiveness of care, and timeliness of care (Davis, K., Stremikis, K., Squires, D., Schoen, C., 2014). America does rank fifth overall in quality of care which speaks strongly to our spending habits in my opinion; while we are spending more our citizens are receiving great care (Davis, K., Stremikis, K., Squires, D., Schoen, C., 2014). I raise the question what good is free universal healthcare if it isnt good, quality healthcare? Health Statistics Compared After examining the policy, legislation, facts and spending, how do the two countries differ in success after the implementation of the Affordable Care Act? Statistics such as infant mortality rate, percentage of insured, and effective care. The chart entitled effective care measures depicts different care scenarios and ranks each country based on their care. The U.S. ranks third overall while Sweden is ranked ten out of eleven. This chart was provided by commonwealth in 2014, four years after the Affordable Healthcare Act was implemented. In my opinion one could argue that this proves that ACA helped improve the quality of care in America. ( Source: Davis, K., Stremikis, K., Squires, D., Schoen, C., 2014) OECD then reported that America has more hospital beds per 1000 in the population than Sweden. In my opinion, this fact also reinforces the effectiveness and quality of Americas healthcare. Conclusion Sweden may have universal healthcare but residents are taxed heavily and then receive poor quality of care. The Affordable Care Act provides affordable, quality healthcare to those who need it without heavy taxation. There are positive and negative effects to both plans but ultimately health care remains a controversial topic. After observing the facts discussed throughout this paper I, in my opinion, have determined that the taxation is not fair for universal healthcare, the quality of care is poor, policy and procedure is hard to understand, and it is difficult to receive care when you need it. The Affordable Care Act, however, seems to be lowering costs, improving quality of care, heightening the number of citizens insured but healthcare spending is still the highest without the highest of quality. Faults can be found in both parties but overall it is the citizens who inhabit the country who control the system by being an active voter to decide future laws and being educated about current healthcare systems.

NAPOLEON BONAPARTE Essay Paper Example For Students

NAPOLEON BONAPARTE Essay Paper Napoleon was one of the most important figures in European history. As one of the greatest military leaders, Napoleon did many things to modernize the European nations he ruled. In 1769, Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Ajaccio, Corsica. His middle class family was of Italian descent. After completing his education, Napoleon went to France to become a solider. In Napoleons first battle as leader of an army, he became famous. By pointing artillery at the British, Napoleon drove them out of Toulon. The Directory then sent him to Italy to attack an army of Austrians. After this victory, Napoleon gained more fame and was known as a hero. Along with his brother and soldiers, Napoleon carried out a Coup Detat. Coup Detat is an illegal take over of the government by the military. Napoleon then gained the title First Council, or dictator of France. During his dictatorship, Napoleon developed a system of laws called the Napoleonic Code. Under these laws, all citizens were considered equal, were granted freedom of religion, and were ensured jobs according to their ability. The laws also helped to establish the bank of France. Paper money was provided for the first time, and citizens were required to pay taxes. Napoleon also enforced laws of the revolution. Aside from the development of the Napoleonic Code, Napoleon developed a Lycees. This was the beginning of the public school system. In 1805, Napoleon was involved in a series of wars. The first was the Battle of Trafalgar. In this war, Napoleon was defeated by the British navy. This defeat ensured Britains control of the seas. Next was the Battle of Austerluz. Napoleon defeated an Austrian Army three times the size of his. This was considered his masterpiece victory. After these two battles, Napoleon crowned himself emperor of the First Empire of France. It was then that he adopted the name Napoleon I. As the emperor, Napoleon developed the Continental System. This system forced all countries controlled by France to close their ports and forbade trade with England. This was done because England was Napoleons mortal enemy. In 1808, Napoleon began his conquest of Spain. The Guerilla war led to an uprising by the entire population. French troops, were raided and killed by the Spanish. The French retaliated the attack with executions. Two years later in 1810, Nationalism became an issue in Germany. Small German states began two rise against the French. They had a deep sense of pride in their culture, and did not want Napoleon to destroy it. After battling with Britain, Spain, and Germany, Napoleon invaded Russia. The purpose of this invasion was to enforce the Continental System. In 1812, a Russian winter and the Russian strategy of Scorched Earth defeated Napoleon and his army of 500,000 men. This was Napoleons worst defeat. It has been said, it was the beginning of the end. This defeat forced Napoleon to give up his crown and go into exile to Elba. Louie XVIII was brought back to France to restore the Monarchy. In 1815, Napoleon returned from his exile. His return was known as Hundred Days. During his second reign, two armies attacked France simultaneously. Napoleon attacked the Duke of Wellingtons British troops first. This was known as the Battle of Waterloo, the most decisive battle in history. On June 15, 1815, Napoleon was defeated by the British. He then gave up his throne for the last time. He again went into exile, only this time he went to St. Helena. He remained there until 1821 when he died of stomach cancer. .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea , .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea .postImageUrl , .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea , .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea:hover , .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea:visited , .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea:active { border:0!important; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea:active , .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u021d607909a7fc5f85491e5a895cfaea:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Adolf Hitler EssayThe legacy of Napoleon is an important part of history. Types of poetry and example Analysis Essay Example For Students

Types of poetry and example Analysis Essay Narrative Poem Narrative poetry is a form of poetry that tells a story, often making use of the voices of a narrator and characters as well; the entire story is usually written in metered verse. The poems that make up this genre may be short or long, and the story it relates to may be complex. It is usually dramatic, with objectives, diverse characters, and meter. Narrative poems include epics, ballads, idylls, and lays. Some narrative poetry takes the form of a novel in verse. An example of this is The Ring and the Book by Robert Browning. In terms of narrative poetry, a romance is a narrative poem that tells a story of chivalry. Examples include the Romance of the Rose or Tennyson Idylls of the King. Although these examples use medieval and Arthur materials, romances may also tell stories from classical mythology. Examples: you Fill MY Days -Jack Ellison You fill my days with happiness With Joy I never knew There is no greater love my dear Than the love I feel for you You fill my days with kindness You set my poor heart free I cant begin to tell you How much you mean to me You fill my days with friendship The kind that lasts and lasts The purest kind of friendship What more could one man ask You fill my days with total Joy Like when I was Just a child The first time I could ride a bicycle The clown that made me smile You fill my days with quiet peace That blows my cares away With simple words of tenderness You brighten up my day But most of all sweet lady You fill my days with spice Im never bored when you are near My love its been a slice Peace Can Only Happen Bernard Barclay I cant change the way I feel But yes you can Go and watch a comedian And they will make an audience laugh l am not responsible for your emotions But yes you are Yell and scream at me and that will create anger Every action has a reaction A family that spends their lives Screaming at their children Teach their children to scream at other people A family that spends their time in anger Teach their children to be angry The family that teach their children to fight Put them on the road to fighting Each statement is true and yet is also false With life the child is also an actor in the play A child taught to hate can learn to love A child taught to fight can learn to care A child taught to play can learn to hate We live in a world where we can build peace But if you teach your child to fight Then we must teach ours to fight as well Peace can only happen when we all agree to peace. From the earliest times, all poetry not subjectively lyrical was apt to indulge in ornament which might be named secretive. But the critics of the 17th century formed a distinction between the representations of the ancients and those of the moderns. .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b , .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b .postImageUrl , .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b , .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b:hover , .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b:visited , .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b:active { border:0!important; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b:active , .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .udb214e051695c74d1fe927370fdd996b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Dead Poets Society EssayBoiler stated that, while Virgil paints, Toast describes. This may be a useful indication in defining not what should, but what in practice has been called descriptive poetry. Descriptive poetry is poetry in which it is not imaginative passion that prevails, but a didactic purpose or even something of the instinct of a sublimated auctioneer. In other words, the landscape, architecture, still life or whatever may be the object of he poets attention, is not used as an accessory, but is itself the centre of interest. In this sense, it is not correct to call poetry in which description is only the occasional ornament of a poem and not its central subjec t, descriptive poetry. The landscape or still life must fill the canvas or, if human interest is introduced, that must be treated as an accessory Smoke -Henry David Thoreau Light-winged Smoke, Caring bird, Melting thy pinions in thy upward flight, Lark without song, and messenger of dawn, Circling above the hamlets as thy nest; Or else, departing dream, and shadowy form Of midnight vision, gathering up thy skirts; By night star-veiling, and by day Darkening the light and blotting out the sun; Go thou my incense upward from this hearth, And ask the gods to pardon this clear flame. Summer Shower -Emily Dickinson A drop fell on the apple tree, Another on the roof; A half a dozen kissed the eaves, And made the gables laugh. A few went out to help the brook, That went to help the sea. Myself conjectured, Were they pearls, What necklaces could be! The dust replaced in hoisted roads, The birds Josser sung; The sunshine threw his hat away, The orchards spangles hung. The breezes brought dejected lutes, And bathed them in the glee; The East put out a single flag, And signed the fete away. Perfect Woman -Henry Headwords Longfellow SHE was a phantom of delight When first she gleamed upon my sight; A lovely apparition, sent To be a moments ornament; Her eyes as stars of twilight fair; Like twilights, too, her dusky hair; But all things else about her drawn From May-time and the cheerful dawn; A dancing shape, an image gay, To haunt, to startle, and waylay. I saw her upon nearer view, A Spirit, yet a Woman too! Her household motions light and free, And steps of virgin liberty; A countenance in which did meet Sweet records, promises as sweet; A creature not too bright or good For human natures daily food; For transient sorrows, simple wiles, Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears, and smiles. And now I see with eye serene The very pulse of the machine; A being breathing thoughtful breath, A traveler between life and death; The reason firm, the temperate will, Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill; A perfect Woman, nobly planned, To warn, to comfort, and command; And yet a Spirit still, and bright With something of angelic light. Lyric Poetry Lyric poems typically express personal (often emotional) feelings and are traditionally spoken in the present tense. Modern examples often have specific rhyming schemes. Greek lyric poetry was defined by its musical accompaniment, and modern forms are sometimes also set to music or a beat Lyric Poetry consists of a poem, such as a sonnet or an ode that expresses the thoughts and feelings of the poet. The term lyric is now commonly referred to as the words to a song. Lyric poetry does not tell a story which portrays characters and actions. The lyric poet addresses the reader erectly, portraying his or her own feeling, state of mind, and perceptions. Dying I heard a fly buzz when I died; The stillness round my form Was like the stillness in the air Between the heaves of storm. The eyes beside had wrung them dry, And breaths were gathering sure For that last onset, when the king Be witnessed in his power. I willed my keepsakes, signed away What portion of me I Could make assignable,-and then There interposed a fly, With blue, uncertain, stumbling buzz, Between the light and me; And then the windows failed, and then I could not see to see. Part of Sonnet Number 18, William Shakespeare: Shall I compare thee to a summers day? Thou art lovelier and more temperate. Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summers lease hath all too short a date. Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimmed, And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance, or natures changing course untrimmed. Before the development of writing, epic poems were memorize and played an important part in main taining a record of the great deeds and history of a culture. Later, they were written down and the tradition for this kind of poem continued. Epics often feature the following: a hero who embodies the values of a culture or ethnic group; something vital that depends on the success of the heros actions; a broad setting, sometimes encompassing the entire world; intervention by supernatural beings. Examples of epics include Galoshes, the Odyssey, and Beowulf. Odyssey The opening book of the Homers Odyssey foreshadows what will happen in the next 23 books. Starting in the middle (after the invocation of the Muse), Book I quickly summarizes events leading to Ethanes appearance before the council of the gods to ask for help bringing Odysseus safely back to his kingdom of Ithaca: After the fall of Troy, the Greeks tried to sail home, but most of them, cursed by the gods, failed or met death upon their return. Not so Odysseus. Between the ten years of the Trojan War and the years Poseidon has spent blocking Odysseus homecoming, Telemeters, the infant son Odysseus left behind, has become a man, faced with the difficult task of staving off his mothers suitors. Now that Poseidon is on vacation, so to speak: But now that god Had gone off among the sunburns races, Most remote of men, at earths two verges, In sunset lands and lands of the rising sun, To be regaled by smoke of thighbones burning, Haunches of rams and bulls, a hundred fold. (From Fitzgerald translation. ) All the other gods support Athena. Jupiter dispatches the gods messenger, Hermes, to instruct the nymph Calypso to give up the man she has detained seven years. Meanwhile, Athena contrives to persuade Telemeters to take action. Disguising herself as a trusted family friend, Mentis, she descends to Ithaca to persuade Telemeters to hold an assembly, rebuke the suitors, and commission a boat with crew to travel throughout Heals seeking news of his father. Besides establishing the direction of the story and briefing the listener on recent events, the first book of the Odyssey presents a series of contrasts between the divine and mortal worlds and a parallel between Odysseus family and that of the leader of the Achaean forces at Troy, Agamemnon. The gods had warned Augustus against taking what was not his, but Augustus wouldnt listen. While the Achaeans fought the Trojan, Augustus took Agamemnon fife and kingdom of Mycenae for his own. He got his desserts when Agamemnon son Rooster killed him for murdering his father. Rooster revenge marks his transition to manhood and wins him his patrimony. It is important that Telemeters be willing to do the same: keep his mother safe for his father and kill the men who would steal his patrimony, should it become necessary. Just as Athena had to convene a meeting of the gods before putting her plan to work, so it is important for Telemeters to gain the backing of the Ithacan elders. Proper procedure must be followed.

Changing Trends Of Hospitality Industry In India Tourism Essays

Changing Trends Of Hospitality Industry In India Tourism Essays Changing Trends Of Hospitality Industry In India Tourism Essay Changing Trends Of Hospitality Industry In India Tourism Essay Vol. 18 No. 6, 2006 ) . In add-on, there has been an addition in the use of engineering as a manner of doing on-line reserves through several distribution channels. These channels can be interpreted as an organized and serviced system that is paid for, out of the selling budget and is used to supply an entree to the clients, who are off from the location of production and ingestion ( Middleton and Clark, Selling in Travel and Tourism, 2001 ) . Normally in India, clients would do a reserve by either straight nearing the hotel or by booking through a travel agent. However, now the electronic distribution channels like the Global Distribution System ( GDS ) and the cyberspace have been steadily deriving popularity. ( Dabas and Manakt. , Vol. 19 No. 5, 2007 ) . Because of the perishable nature of the stock lists, its really important for the hotel to hold an economical distribution. ( OConnor, Vol. 4. pg 1-15, 2002 ) . RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Every research methodological analysis includes a research design which may be defined as the set of conditions organized hypothetically for the aggregation and analysis of informations that aims to incorporate relevancy to the research procedure with economic system in process Research Problem: Understanding the development in cordial reception industry along with the current tendencies and, how the companies have been affected the demand for their consumers every bit good as their perceptual experience. Research Question: The altering tendencies of the Hospitality Industry in India Research Aims: 1. The public presentation of Hospitality industry in India. 2. How has the tendency transformed in the past few old ages. 3. Analyzing the demand and supply of adjustment and turning monetary values in different Indian cordial reception industry? 4. How has the perceptual experience about the restaurants/hotels and bars changed in the heads of consumers? 5. Who are the main participants in the Indian market every bit good as the 1s that have branched outside India? Approach: Since there is no relationship between the Hospitality Industry and the decision, the research would be to the full prelusive so that the decision, which is being analysed utilizing different methods of study and survey, would back up the research. Scheme: The scheme that will be followed for the research work will be Surveys. Surveys will be taken from either the Hotels or Resto-Bars in India and besides from the clients of different cordial reception sections. DATA COLLECTION My informations aggregation processes for this research would dwell of series of processs, which would be farther branched into primary and secondary informations aggregation. PRIMARY DATA COLLECTION The chief procedures that I would be trusting on while utilizing my primary informations aggregation would be through questionnaire based on the information, that will be done by personally run intoing the clients and by directing them stations and by run intoing the staff of the hotel in individual. The questionnaire I would be working on, would be divided in a manner that would be most efficient in managing them and by maintaining the clip factor into consideration, the most applicable system would be applied to the best suited group. While using a incorrect procedure in garnering information would ensue in detaining the whole operation. The research subject requires a Qualitative method to measure the findings aimed for. A well framed questionnaire will be given in individual. The appropriate tool for my research proposal would be a type of a study, because the best manner to obtain the needed informations, in order to happen replies for my research inquiries, would be inquiring a set of inquiries. Every methods of informations aggregation have its ain advantages every bit good as disadvantages. For illustration: Internet study: Survey done through electronic mails and file sharing. The advantages of Internet as a manner of study are: 1. Survey can be set up faster. 2. Survey consequences are faster. 3. Response can be administered by leting pre and station inquiries. 4. The skip-pattern inquiries can be used to extinguish interviewer mistake. 5. Respondent can reply at their ain convenience. 6. Cost of interview in minimum. Although, Internet study has many advantages, it might non be the most appropriate method of appraising for this thesis. The ground behind this is the namelessness of the web, which makes any type of avowal hard, if non impossible. Postal Questionnaire is yet another type of study which has the undermentioned advantages and disadvantages: Advantages Their costs are comparatively low. Datas can be obtained from big sample countries. Can avoid interview prejudice. Privacy scenes can be enhanced for the respondents. Rating graduated tables can be flexible. Disadvantages Poor response rates. Respondents may misinterpret inquiries. The intended individual may non be the 1 who completed questionnaire. The comparative nature of the inquiries to be posted is supposed to hold confidential information, has made me to make up ones mind that postal questionnaire might be the most appropriate signifier for roll uping information. The methods for informations aggregation scope from the simple usage of postal questionnaire to face-to-face interviews, where an interviewer uses tape recording equipment and note taking as their tools for roll uping information. Few of the methods are expensive but they certainly guarantee a good response rate, while others being inexpensive to administrate but are most likely to bring forth a hapless response ( Les Oakshott, 2001 ) SECONDARY DATA COLLECTION: The secondary informations are the type of informations that are made by others for their ain intents. The secondary information for my research proposal would be gathered from the companies own informations archives and from their one-year fiscal studies. In add-on, the findings of former research surveies on outsourcing an accounting procedure would give an ample sum of historical informations or decision-making forms. I would besides be utilizing Internet to acquire some more information about the industry and usage diaries for acquiring direction from the past researches on this subject. TOOLS FOR DATA ANALYSIS The informations collected from the questionnaire would be analyzed through the SPSS text analysis. Different manner of SPSS analysis will be used in analysing the information from the questionnaire. Research: NEW AND RELEVANT? Recently this subject has been quiet popular, with a roar in the cordial reception industry at that place have been a batch of research worker working on this subject in order to understand the demands and behavior of the people, so that they could propose stairss to better and assist turn the industry. The subject for this research is besides a hot topic as the touristry industry is besides connected with the cordial reception industry and the touristry industry has progressed alot.

Social Networks in Work Places Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Social Networks in Work Places - Essay Example On the other hand, there are no given limitations that employees can deal with the websites that are work related without involving themselves with the recreational or personal sites that influence their level of output. The involvement of employees and employers in the online networks facilitates the publicity to malware, lack of privacy and other related factors and hence the concentration of the employees on their daily routines are affected and influenced negatively. This results to decreased production and profit levels.2 Since the discovery and introduction of technological advanced, electronics that are used to ease the communication gap between different individuals from different locations there has been complaints from many employers of the effects of these social networks on the productivity of the employees. There has been debates on the effects of these social networks on the general economical development and growth of different companies. The online social networks hav e been regarded as the most influential since their access is commonly by use of mobile phones or computers. The employees in most companies have access to these electronic gadgets and to the internet in their work places.3 This illustrates that the employees can engage themselves with the social networks online during working hours. This usually causes negative effects on the level of their productivity and the levels of realized profits from the employers. This aspect has caused most of the employers to install other gadgets to regulate and control the use of the internet in their companies. Some of the employees as a barrier or abuse can regard this to privacy and social life involvement. On the other hand, the employers see it as a way of controlling and sealing the degree of idleness and loopholes that influence productivity. The rights of both parties, employees and employers, seem to be violated but there should be an understanding between rights, privileges, work responsibil ities and abuse of work contracts. The realization and introduction of aspects that involves the concepts of the employers’ expectations from the employees with respect to their social life should be addressed in advanced and in most cases included in the employment contracts. Consequently, a closer look on the effects of employees involvement to social networks, mostly online should be critically analyzed since they are at times beneficial to the company or organization if used properly.4 The fact that the employees at times visit the websites that are not work related does not mean that they do this every time they access the internet. The social networks that are usually accessed online can assist in the beneficial part of the organization or company. From a deeper perspective, social networks can be termed as areas where people obtained all sorts of data and information.5 The interconnection of the system allows the users to assist one another, take steps to achieve goals and objectives and transmit the different information from one section to another. Forensic Accounting Essay Example for Free

Forensic Accounting Essay What types of systems are needed to ensure that all individuals have access to the benefits of our community as well to bring health and effectiveness to an organization or the broader community? There are two systems of process that ensure all individuals have access to the benefits of our community. The first is due process which is the ability of getting noticed and participating in the decisions that affect an individual (Baird, 2011). The second is substantive process which makes sure people know and understand the rules (Baird, 2011). How do we ensure fair treatment, fair administration of rules, fair compensation, fair blame, and ensure due process to allow all opinions to be heard? We can make ethical decisions by creating fair systems for resolution of disputes and policies that state expectations (Baird,2011). We should care for all members and institutions of the community when allocating resources (Baird, 2011). We should give to each member of the community knowing they are a part of the happiness of the entire community. How might the Relationship Lens be misused through abuse of power or personal hubris? Having an excessive pride and arrogance can move us from unintentional ethical wrong doing to intentional wrong doing (Baird, 2011). Cite a recent example in the news. I have an example of hubris in my work place that I will share. Our current CEO has chosen to take his annual bonus when he made the decision to freeze raises and increase the employee cost of health insurance. He does not pay the premiums of his health insurance policy but raised the cost for all employees. He purchased a very expensive piece of equipment costing over $2.5 million in 2011 causing an operating loss for the year. This equipment holds a great deal of prestige for him in the healthcare industry. I have been very disappointed that he has made the decisions he has made with total disregard for all other employees affected. His excessive pride and arrogance has caused him to intentionally act unethically. What types of systems are needed to ensure that all individuals have access to the benefits of our community as well to bring health and effectiveness to an organization or the broader community? Bella and Frederick both use the concept of moral ecology to callus to greater responsibility for the community.Frederick also reminds us that companies and corporations and communities at large have responsibilities toward life – conserving values such fairness, unselfishness, and restraint, that both create and sustain human collective life. Judeo-Christian tradition calls us to responsibility for others. Due process is used to achieve our goals, assuring that those without access to power have equal opportunity to thrive. How might the Relationship Lens be misused through abuse of power or personal hubris? Cite a recent example in the news. (If you dont know the meaning of hubris, look it up and include its definition as you answer this question.) As Timothy Clark noted, â€Å"The ambition to govern one’s fellow beings tend to view leadership as the pathway to glittering world of personal reward. Another risk that we run as we work is to become authoritarian and paternalistic. Another bias to watch is entrainment, where we are so cut up in work that we forget to ask important key questions. Hubris, excessive pride and arrogance, moves us from unintentional ethical wrongdoing to intentional wrongdoing. Biggest example I can recall is resent war in Iraq,President Bush and VP Chaney failed to show responsibilities as an ethical decision makers. How do you know when you are improperly using your personal power? How do you know when your life is out of balance? How do you bring it back into balance? The focus of the Relationship Lens is always fundamental fairness. Lens is inviting us to live a life in relationship with others in community. If decision maker is not balancing the personal need of individual to community needs, if he or she not subordinates own rights to that of the group. After making the decision one must ask himself questions, analyze decision through different ethic lenses. What improvements could we make on our process of ethical analysis? Did we like the results? What were the problems with the process? What decision we are not comfortable with? As we reflect on the results,we can put strategic for the future and became more ethical in our decisions in other words more ethically mature. We also can improve and bring our self to balanced ethical ground. a. The systems I believe that are needed to ensure access to benefits in our community are education, health, and judicial. An education system is important to help equip individuals with necessary skills that will help them to earn a living and contribute to the well being of their society. A health care system will help to maintain a healthy community by addressing all health needs. Having a judicial system will ensure that justice is dispensed and that fairness and adherence of the laws are followed. b. A Democratic System of Government which is guided by the Constitution can assure fair treatment, fair administration of rules, fair compensation, fair blame, and ensure due process to allow all opinions to be heard. The Constitution is used as a guide by Government to craft legislation, laws and regulations to ensure that there is fairness and justice in society. d. We may know that we are improperly using our personal power when for example we are in a position of leadership or power and use our office to influence others to do things our way. We may realize that our life is out of balance when we become depressed, suicidal, suffer from addition and is easily enraged. We can to my mind bring our life back into balance by doing introspection, and accepting responsibility. What types of systems are needed to ensure that all individuals have access to the benefits of our community as well to bring health and effectiveness to an organization or the broader community. There are several systems that are design to allow access to benefits. These include laws that are used to identify and support individuals who would require such services. If a medical provider or a school employee notices something that might be child abuse or elder abuse, they are required by law to report it. By reporting a possible incident a wide net of services are employed to investigate and perhaps implement services needed by the individual. Laws are also passed to describe who gets and what benefits are available to an individual. Social agencies, organizations and religious groups are often used to educate, locate and provide for the individuals in need. The media in various forms is often used to promote changes or additions to the benefits. A well educated community is the best weapon in the organizations arsenal. How do we ensure fair treatment, fair administration of rules, fair compensation, fair blame and ensure due process to allow all opinions to be heard? It is sometimes very difficult to ensure all of the fairness listed above in the heat of the moment. In order to do so one must step back and remove oneself from the heat of the event. When emotions become to involved it is difficult to implement fairness. This can be seen when the media appears to convict someone before they are arrested and tried. Laws have been passed to help identify areas that should be address fairly and these include race, age, disability ,and religion. Legislation has also determined a federal minimal wage and passed laws dealing with equal pay for equal work. Labor Unions often campaign for certain employment benefits for its members. The knowledge that a businesss could be sued for unfairness or prejudice is another protection. Businesses often have a policy Manuel that addresses how they will deal with certain issues. Knowledge of an individuals rights and duties written down gives all sides the knowledge of what is considered right and wrong in that group. . How do you know when you are improperly using your personal power? How do you know when your life is out of balance? How do you bring it back into balance? Self analysis and appraisal is required to obtain this knowledge. Every once in a while one must ask oneself if one is following the right path. Listening to others is a good way to identify if one is improperly using ones power. It doesnt mean they are always correct but it may point your self reflection in the right direction. Checking ones ethical compass is another. I know when my life is out of balance when I can not be everywhere at once. Work stresses, problems and information should stay there. Family and personal business should not interfere with work or school. When I find myself spending time from one part of my life dealing with another part of my life then I am our of balance. Again one must step back and access what is going on and figure out if it is going to be temporary or long term. One can then figure out a course of action and decide what is needed. Being brave enough to ask for help if needed.   Superwoman is an concept promoted by the media that does exist, rather one needs to make sure one is not overwhelmed. In addition if it is a major project or event sometimes if I break it into pieces it is easier to digest and equilibrium returns. What types of systems are needed to ensure that all individuals have access to the benefits of our community as well to bring health and effectiveness to an organization or the broader community? The types of systems that are need to that all individuals have access to the benefits of our community as well to bring health and effectiveness to an organization or a broader community would be systems such electricity which allows everyone to have access to light, television for allowing the world to come into your place of living, and also the telephone systems that allows individuals to communicate with the world through voice. 2. How do we ensure fair treatment, fair administration of rules, fair compensation, fair blame and ensure due process to allow all opinions to be heard? We ensure fair treatment , fair administration of rules, fair compensation, fair blame and ensure due process to allow all opinions to be heard by establishment organizations such as the Equal Employment opportunity commission(EEOC) for fair treatment. Fair administration of rules would include organizations such as the Federal Trade Commission(FTC) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration(FMSCA)Fair compensation organizations would include the Department of Labor(DOL). Fair blame and due process would be the Justice system. 3. How do you know when you are improperly using your personal power? How do you know when your life is out of balance? How do you bring it back into balance. Where in truth good choices are not made. Also power is abused, it can result from an imbalance of information education or financial resources, than the other party may not be able to freely choose what I wants to do. When power is out of balance, we often are using the persons as a means to our preferred ends rather than treating the person as an end, a human being with a autonomy and choices in how to live his life. To bring power back into balance is to establish a connection with your inner spirit and knowing the right thing to.

Ruhling Manufacturing Company Essay -- Business Management

1. Why might negotiation be favored over competitive bidding in certain procurement situations? Based on the textbook and my understanding, whenever there are negotiations between a procurer and a supplier regarding a competitive bidding, the first thing that might be favored is the scope of the project, meaning both will sit down and discuss the entire project prior the work begins. Meanwhile, during the negotiations, evaluation criteria should be clear, and stated and defined. As the evaluation is based on the criteria stated and the procurer can request or ask the supplier’s opinions on certain specifications and where things can be improved. There are two characteristics to be considered when negotiating over competitive bidding: a) Must be flexible and allow changes to make and specify the designs of the projects. b) Knowledge is very important because if a project is based or awarded on competitive bidding then a contractor may not know the information about possible design flaws, submit a low bid, and recoup profits when changes are required. 2. Considerations of Epsilon's alternative proposal: a. What is the applicability of a requirements contract from Ruhling’s point of view? Assume that Epsilon will still make a profit resulting from economics of long runs and learning curves From Ruhling's point of views, the applicable of a requirements contract are both legal and mutually satisfactory, as long as performance is met and buyer's requirements exist, it gives certain protection against price increases, and the possibility of a market predictable. b. Assuming Ruhling is now interested in a requirements contract, how should Ruhling proceed with the bidding/award process? Ruhling should start a ... ...anged innumerable times over the project's life. Continual rework and time delays had hampered progress. Bolger had reported design errors that necessitated the refitting of complex equipment and rework of the aluminum welding. Materials requirements included the use of welded aluminum. Bolger normally employed only steel welders; aluminum welders were in short supply and impatient during work stoppages. The Bolger contract was cost based plus a fixed fee. A particularly disturbing problem was Bolger's cost reporting system. Bolger contract negotiators waited for up to three weeks for cost data. Psychology Paper Parenting Styles

Parenting Styles, Discipline, and Behavioral Outcomes Many psychologists throughout history have indulged in studies related to parenting behavior and how children are affected from such behavior. The work of Diana Baumrind, which is considered to be one of the most influential and well-studied theories of parenting behavior, was the first to identify three styles of parenting (Sclafani 44). These styles of parenting are called authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive. This paper will further explain descriptions of these styles and the typical behaviors of children as a result of each style. This paper will also provide insight on the parenting style I was raised on along with my thoughts on types of discipline I might use in the future with my own child. As discussed in the introduction, there are three different styles of parenting, authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive. Each style has different characteristics and outcomes of behavior from a child, both negative and pos itive. Authoritative parenting is considered most effective. Authoritative parents provide direction and clear rules but not for the sake of blind obedience (Kimball 44).Authoritative parents are willing to discipline the child if misbehavior occurs and rewards behavior that is considered accomplished. Authoritative parenting also provides the nurture and acceptance and enforces independence a child needs as they grow older. This parenting style is associated with high achieving children. These children are typically well-mannered, well- behaved, and goal- oriented. These children also have self- confidence and are excellent in engaging in group activities with peers.Through research it has also been found that fewest numbers of drug issues and problems when the children reach adolescence are associated with this parenting style (Sclafani 46). Another parenting style to discuss is the authoritarian parenting style. With this parenting style, parents provide little nurture and accept ance but are extremely controlling and demanding. These parents strongly believe in rule enforcement and order. Authoritarian parents normally do not interact with their children in positive ways and usually install fear into the child. Punishment is usually harsh and given without explanation.Children with authoritarian parents are often anxiety- ridden. Studies have shown that these children have lower self- esteem, show high aggressiveness and typically do less well in school. Permissive parenting consists of high nurture and acceptance, but these parents lack structure and control. These parents look at their children as â€Å"free spirits† who need space to learn and grow. Permissive parents are usually inconsistent with discipline. Children with permissive parents normally are impulsive and irresponsible. These children also lack any self- control since none was expected (Sclafani 47).What exactly causes a teenager to rebel? This question is asked by millions of parents across the nation. Adolescents are in the formal operational thought stage. Parents must realize that their teenage children will have the desire to make their own decisions and challenge any inconsistent discipline. In the broadcast video, Teens: What makes them tick, when questioned why they choose to rebel, the majority of teenagers had one main reason, they are pulling away from their parents. With authoritarian parents, teenagers feel trapped and unloved. These parents are constantly nagging, lecturing and focusing on the negative aspects along with being punitive. The teenager begins to believe the negativity and ultimately has identity foreclosure. Normally, these teenagers lack self- confidence and find ways to deal with these internal issues. Teenagers can partake in unhealthy habits such as substance abuse, becoming promiscuous, or engaging in activities outside of the room to stay away. Teenagers of permissive parents normally rebel in similar ways but have different reas oning. With permissive parents, no boundaries are set and the adolescent has total freedom to do as he or she chooses. These adolescents are normally aggressive as well, especially if parents â€Å"cave in† to the aggressiveness to avoid confrontation. When I was an adolescent, I was raised by my father since my mother did not play an active role in my life. I would classify my father’s style of parenting as authoritative. Sure, my father had his days when the other styles were apparent but for the most part he was consistent. There was plenty of love and nurture along with clear boundaries set. My father listened and sympathized with me, providing guidance as I grew older. My father’s techniques were very effective although it took a while to set in along with my character. It is because of my father, I strive to better myself every day. Discipline plays a huge role in shaping a child’s personality and behavior. In the future, I plan on taking the authorit ative approach with my child. I want my child to be involved and able to make their own decisions. I plan on giving responsibilities that is age appropriate. When my child misbehaves, I will not resort to physical and verbal punishment. I rather give â€Å"time- outs† and later explain why that behavior is not allowed and inappropriate.I want to set clear boundaries and rules and explain them not in a negative aspect, but how these boundaries and rules will benefit my child. Last but not least, I will give praise when deserved and encourage my child to continue accomplishments. As discussed in my paper, different parenting styles can make a world of difference in a child’s behavior. Authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive all have different outcomes. These styles also depend on the parent’s state of mind and past experiences. These parenting styles can shape a child’s future and create an image of how that child views itself. 914
